Rick Pearson is an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church. Deacons in the United Methodist Church are called to a ministry “of Word and Service to both the community and the congregation in a ministry that connects the two.” He currently serves as the pastor of the North Oxnard United Methodist Church in Oxnard, California.
For 20 years (from 1990 to 2010), Rick was the executive director of Project Understanding, a faith-based social service agency in Ventura, California. Prior to that he served as minister of Christian Education in congregations in California and Wisconsin.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from U.C.L.A. and Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Religious Education degrees from Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, California. He and his wife, Ellen, have two grown children – a son, Jonathan, and a daughter, Sonja.
